JINAN, July 21 (Xinhua) --On July 21, it was learned from China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. that the main structure of Phase II of the Second People's Hospital in Ningyang County, Tai' an City, Shandong Province has been successfully topped out. The project has actively embraced green construction principles during its development, with prefabricated building components accounting for up to 67% of the total structure. This represents a concrete implementation of the requirement outlined in the State Council's "15th Five-Year Plan for Urban Renewal" issued in May this year to "steadily promote the development of prefabricated buildings," particularly in the construction of primary healthcare institutions.

The Phase II project of Ningyang County Second People's Hospital is a key initiative under the local health development plan, with a total construction area of 32,000 square meters. The project includes facilities such as a rehabilitation and convalescence building, Ward Building No.3, and administrative office buildings. Upon completion, the hospital will have a total capacity of over 800 beds, significantly optimizing the allocation of medical resources within the county.

During construction, the project team faced challenges including a narrow working area, cross-operation among multiple trades, and stringent quality requirements. To address common quality issues such as wall leakage and cracking in damp areas, the team conducted technical research, developed innovative construction methods, and employed an integrated prefabricated structure combined with Z-shaped joint locking and a flexible waterproof grouting system at the base. This approach achieved an integrated design offering waterproofing, crack resistance, and seismic performance, significantly enhancing both building quality and service life.

It is understood that the application of prefabricated construction technology in hospital projects has yielded multiple benefits. Prefabricated components are manufactured to standard specifications in factories and assembled on-site, significantly reducing common quality issues such as hollowing and cracking caused by human factors in traditional cast-in-place methods. This approach particularly meets hospitals' stringent requirements for a clean, moisture-resistant, and durable indoor environment, effectively enhancing both building quality and service life. Furthermore, through standardized components and meticulous assembly processes, the project team achieved efficient and orderly progress under complex conditions involving limited workspaces and cross-disciplinary collaboration, substantially shortening the main construction timeline.

Currently, the project is actively applying for the Shandong Provincial High-Quality Structural Engineering Award. The project manager from China Railway 25th Bureau Group stated that the next phase will focus on advancing subsequent tasks such as secondary structural systems, equipment installation, and interior decoration to ensure early project commissioning and provide Ningyang residents with higher-quality, more efficient healthcare services. This pioneering initiative also offers valuable insights for promoting prefabricated construction in county-level hospitals nationwide.
